# How It Works

> The problem with traditional agencies and how Oratory's sprint-based approach solves it

## The problem with traditional agencies

Most design agencies follow an outdated model that wastes your time and money:

* **Endless discovery phases** - Weeks of meetings, workshops, and presentations before any design work begins
* **Vague timelines** - "6-12 weeks" that inevitably stretch to 6 months or longer
* **Hourly billing** - Unpredictable costs and surprise invoices as projects expand
* **Scope creep** - Projects that grow beyond original agreements without clear pricing
* **Bloated teams** - You talk to sales, then account managers, then project managers—rarely the actual designer
* **Generalist approach** - Agencies that design for everyone, so they're experts in nothing

## The Oratory approach

We've built a productized model specifically for B2B SaaS companies:

### Standardized sprint process

* 10-15 day timelines for homepage, 20-25 days for full website
* Clear milestones and deliverables at each stage
* Efficient workflows without delays
* Proven methodology, not custom approaches

### Direct communication

* Work directly with our team
* No account managers or sales teams
* Async updates via Slack and Loom videos
* Quick responses during business hours
* One main point person for consolidated feedback

### Transparent pricing

* Fixed packages, no hourly billing
* Upfront pricing, no surprises
* Clear scope, no hidden fees
* Add-ons available and clearly priced

### Development included

* Framer or Webflow development in every package
* You get a fully functional site, not just design files
* Training and documentation included
* Ready to launch immediately

### Post-launch independence

* Built for client self-management
* CMS templates enable independent expansion
* No ongoing retainer required
* Training on managing and growing your site

## Our standardized process

### Week 1: Design Direction

<Steps>
  <Step title="Kickoff workshop">
    Align on goals, target audience, key messaging, and success metrics.

    This is our opportunity to deeply understand your product, market, and positioning.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Visual concept boards">
    We present three distinct stylistic directions for your website.

    Concept boards delivered by end of week (ideally Thursday or earlier).

    Each concept shows different typography, color palettes, imagery styles, and layout approaches.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review & feedback cycle">
    You review the three concept options and provide feedback.

    This is typically very low lift—usually 1-2 hours of your time.

    Together we'll refine the chosen direction and align on next steps.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Week 2: Homepage Design

<Steps>
  <Step title="Figma mockups of homepage">
    We apply the selected visual direction to create detailed homepage mockups in Figma.

    The design includes all homepage sections, custom imagery, typography, and layout.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Async client review via Loom">
    You'll receive a Loom video walkthrough explaining the design decisions and approach.

    Review at your own pace—no scheduled meetings required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Revisions">
    We incorporate your feedback and refine the homepage design.

    Changes are consolidated through your main point person to keep the process efficient.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Week 3: Development

<Steps>
  <Step title="Build homepage in Framer/Webflow">
    Development begins in your chosen platform (Framer or Webflow).

    We build the homepage exactly as designed, ensuring functionality and responsiveness.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Client preview">
    You'll preview the live homepage in the development platform.

    Test functionality, review on different devices, and provide any final adjustments.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Homepage launch">
    Homepage goes live once approved.

    For **Homepage + Brand Extension Package**, project is complete at this point.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Additional page design (Growth-Ready Website Package only)">
    While homepage development is happening, we simultaneously design the additional pages.

    This parallel work keeps the timeline efficient and ensures consistent design across all pages.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Week 4: Finalization (Growth-Ready Website Package only)

<Steps>
  <Step title="Build additional pages">
    We build the remaining pages (Blog, Contact, Pricing, About, Product template) in Framer/Webflow.
  </Step>

  <Step title="CMS setup">
    Content management system is configured with templates for self-management.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Client QA">
    You review all pages, test functionality, and provide any final adjustments.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Site handoff/transfer">
    Site ownership is transferred to you with all access credentials and assets.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Site walkthrough">
    Final walkthrough either on a call or via Loom video showing how to manage your site independently.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Project complete">
    Site is live, you're trained, and ready to manage independently.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Platform decision: Framer vs Webflow

We'll recommend the best platform during kickoff based on your specific needs.

### Framer (Our Preferred Platform)

**Advantages:**

* Better animations and micro-interactions
* Figma-like editing experience (familiar for design-forward clients)
* Direct partnership with Framer team through Framer Switch program
* First year of Scale plan included (\$1,200 annual value)
* More modern, cutting-edge feel
* Better for advanced interactions and animations

**Best for:**

* Companies wanting advanced animations
* Clients who value modern, interactive experiences
* Teams comfortable with newer platforms
* Projects that don't need extremely complex CMS

**Framer Switch Program Partnership**

We partner directly with Framer through their Switch program, which means:

* **First year covered** - We cover your first year of Framer Scale plan (\$1,200 annual value) as part of the project
* **Direct partnership** - Better support, early access to features, and streamlined onboarding
* **Seamless transition** - Smooth migration from your current platform to Framer

<Info>
  The Framer Switch program is available for clients choosing Framer as their platform. After the first year, you'll continue on the Scale plan at standard Framer pricing.
</Info>

**Ongoing cost:** First year included (Scale plan), then standard Framer pricing

### Webflow (Alternative Platform)

**Advantages:**

* More established, proven platform
* Stronger CMS for complex content management
* Larger community and more learning resources
* More integrations and third-party tools available

**Best for:**

* Companies needing robust content management
* Clients who want maximum platform stability
* Projects with complex CMS requirements
* Teams who prefer established tools

**Ongoing cost:** \~\$39-100/month depending on plan

<Tip>
  We recommend Framer for most clients because of our Framer Switch program partnership (first year of Scale plan included, \$1,200 value) and modern capabilities. But we'll choose Webflow if it better fits your specific needs.

## Why sprints work

Sprint-based design delivers better results faster:

* **Focused attention** - Our team gives dedicated attention to your brand and website throughout the sprint
* **Faster decisions** - Tight timelines force clarity and prevent endless revisions
* **Low-lift reviews** - Feedback cycles are designed to be efficient (typically 1-2 hours of your time)
* **Better outcomes** - Focused work produces better designs than stretched-out timelines
* **Predictable timelines** - Know exactly when your site will be ready, not "sometime this quarter"

## Is Oratory right for you?

Oratory works best for:

* **B2B SaaS companies** (seed to Series A funding stages)
* **Teams that value their time** and want to move fast
* **Companies ready to invest** in professional brand and website
* **Startups preparing for fundraising** or major launches
* **Teams tired of agency bloat** and want direct, efficient work

Oratory might not be right if:

* You're not a B2B SaaS company (we only work with software companies)
* Your budget is under $12,000 (our packages start at $12k)
* You want a traditional agency process (we work differently)
* You need ongoing retainer-based support (we focus on project completion)
* You need complex e-commerce functionality (we specialize in marketing sites)
